RIP: Teddy Pendergrass

When I was a little girl, I loved Teddy Pendergrass. He was a beautiful chocolate man who had a beautiful, smooth, deep chocolate voice and he did these ladies only concerts I wasn’t supposed to know about, where the women screamed – a lot.

Of course there was a lot more to him. He was an amazing musician (he first gained notice for his talent with the drums) who did not let adversity keep him down. Though he was paralyzed in an auto accident in 1982, he continued to produce great music. He is also known for his work on behalf of those with spinal chord injuries. Teddy Pendergrass was 59 years old. Here is a clip of him performing Love TKO on Soul Train.
